If you are looking for one of the most picturesque places in Indian Wells, take a trip to experience the Eldorado Country Club. Located in the Greater Palm Springs area, it is known as the most distinguished country club in the entire region. You’ll find it situated in a beautiful cove at the bottom of the Santa Rosa Mountains which serves as the perfect backdrop for club activities. Nestled mostly on flat ground, residents can gaze upward towards the mountains without other resorts hindering their view. The prestige and location of this club is extremely attractive to potential home owners.
El Dorado Country Club recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and members have enjoyed professional service, hospitality, friendships, and world class dining since 1957. This private-member facility offers an 18-hole regulation golf course which is spectacularly maintained. A variety of top notch facilities are available including swimming pools, fitness center, and restaurant. Rental cottages are available for guests visiting from out of town.
Many people desire a home in this community but available inventory can be difficult to come by. El Dorado is a private equity ownership club and requires more than just home affordability from its residents. Homeowner applicants must provide personal recommendations by other home owners in the community. Opportunities to own a home here are not made available often, even when the market is down. In 2010 only four homes were listed, three of those for only a short time. Owning a home does not come with an automatic club membership.
Lovely homes adorn this community and feature private swimming pools, spacious ceilings, and picturesque windows. Eldorado Country Club boasts of its most famous resident, President Dwight Eisenhower who moved there in 1961 after leaving office. He and his wife, Mamie, lived in a home designed from the Welton Beckett model. It had four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 4,200 square feet. The house was built by HM Eversz who also built the El Dorado clubhouse.
There are plenty of shopping and entertainment opportunities nearby. And Indian Wells residents enjoy many amenities. Local residents send their children to schools like Gerald R. Ford Elementary, Palm Desert Charter Middle School, and Palm Desert High School.
